Body The Central City boys’ basketball team suffered a pair of holiday-themed losses last week, falling to Elm Creek in the annual Heartland Hoops Classic, 78-61, and to McCool Junction in the opening round of the Runza Holiday Tournament on the Bison’s home court.

Body On Friday before the holiday break, the Central City girls competed at the Tekamah-Herman Invite while the boys’ team battled at Logan View’s Dan Mowinkel Invite.

Body Just in time for the Runza Holiday Tournament, the Nebraska Christian Lady Eagles notched one of their most impressive wins of the season, besting unbeaten, thirdrated Sutton, 48-32 in overtime. The Eagles had a mountain to climb early on.

Body Twenty-six points were scored in the first four and a half minutes of last Friday’s game between Central City and Doniphan-Trumbull, and all of them went to the Cardinals.

Body After a back-and-forth first half, High Plains pulled away in the third quarter and survived a late Nebraska Christian run to hand the Eagles a 53-43 loss last Tuesday evening in Central City.
