Central City/Centura advances past St. Paul/Palmer, 4-1 After meeting twice this season, and after playing countless times over the years, Central City/Centura and St.
Mother Nature didn’t do prep golfers in the Cornhusker State any favors last week, as cool and rainy weather greeted the golfers—including members of the Central City High School Golf Team—during the district meet on Monday.
It is no stretch to say that, at the District C-6 Meet, Nebraska Christian went the distance. Last Thursday, on the track at Boone Central High School, the Eagles qualified nine competitors for the NSAA Class C State Track and Field Championships.
The Bison will be well represented on the track and in the field at Burke Stadium. At last Tuesday’s B-5 District Meet in Central City, the hosts qualified thirteen tracksters for the NSAA State Track and Field Championships and came away with a pair of third and fourth place finishes in the team standings.
Five girls and three boys sporting the Red and Blue will make their way to Omaha Burke High School this week to represent High Plains Community at the NSAA State Track and Field Championships. On the boys’ side, nobody will have a busier week than senior Brodey Spurling.
Central City/ Centura tops Wayne 3-1 For the sixth consecutive season, Central City/Centura will cap their season at the NSAA State Baseball Championships. Last Friday on their home field, the Kernels used a gem of a pitching performance from Conner Erickson and some timely power hitting by Luke Vakiner to rattle off a 3-1 revenge victory over Wayne in the District C-3 championship game.
The Nebraska Christian track and field teams have been rolling through the regular season and last Thursday’s Cross County Invitational was no different. In their season finale, the Eagles racked up eleven gold medals and forty-five total top six finishes, and looked primed for a postseason to remember.
Ava Call breaks two more Central City records Thursday Central City’s 400-meter dash record stood for thirty-three years until Ava Call broke it two weeks ago with a time of 58.50 seconds. That time lasted just six days in the record books as, at last Thursday’s Ord Invite, Call set a new standard again with a winning time of 57.95.
The Central City Bison had a chance to get familiar with the state championship golf course last week. On both Tuesday and Thursday, the Bison played rounds at Indianhead Golf Club in Grand Island.
