The Friday night showdown between the Nebraska Christian Eagles and the Heartland Huskies ended with a final score of 34-19 in favor of Heartland. Despite the loss, the Eagles demonstrated areas of great potential and a relentless team spirit that promises much for the season ahead.

The Central City Bison have stampeded out of the gate this softball season, sporting an overall record of 6-1. The only blemish on their record comes from a clash with Class B’s Seward. Otherwise, they’ve been nothing short of spectacular, particularly in their stunning 13-1 victory over Hastings St. Cecilia, who was previously considered the number one team in Class C.

Central City Bison faced off against Ord in a season-opening match that ended in a 49-29 loss for the Bison. Despite the final score, the game offered glimpses of what the team could achieve as the season progresses.

The High Plains Community sports season got off to a mixed start this week. The Lady Storm volleyball team clinched a big 3-1 victory over Nebraska Lutheran on Monday night, but the High Plains football team suffered a heavy 32-0 defeat to a larger and more experienced BDS squad on Friday night.
