Kernels get it poppin’ ahead of C-3 District tournament

Somehow the regular season has come to an end for Nebraska high school baseball and teams will now look to finish strong in the month of May. For the Central City/Fullerton/Centura Kernels the season couldn’t have finished much better as they outscored their opponents by a combined 65-7 in the final stretch of the regular season to finish with an 18-4 season mark. The week included big wins over Omaha North and Twin River last Thursday, a 12-0 victory over Malcolm on Friday and a win over Class B Elkhorn on Monday night.

High Plains boys Crossroads runner-up

With track season hitting the finals stretch, High Plains Community athletes recently participated in the Crossroads Conference Meet, where they put on a fantastic show and displayed their prowess in various track and field events. The High Plains boys’ team finished second in the team scoring with 78 points, while the girls performed admirably in their respective events.

Last Wednesday four Central City High School athletes took a big step towards continuing their academic and athletic careers at the next level by signing their letter of intent. Left to right, from top left: Tyler Carroll has been on a mission of dominance this season and on Wednesday his hard work paid off as he signed his letter of intent to continue his academic and track and field career at Wichita State University.
