Bison battle tough but fall in heart breaker to Adams Central as they advance to 2-3 on the season

Last Friday night at Adams Central High, the Central City Bison football team proved that they could stand toe-to-toe with the best as they came tantalizingly close to dethroning the undefeated Adams Central Patriots. Though they eventually fell to the Patriots, the Bison demonstrated their grit and determination throughout the matchup.

This season has been a special one for the Central City High School softball team already as they have earned 26 wins and won the Central City Invitational title for the second year in a row. The win marked the first time in tournament history that the Bison have earned championships in consecutive years. It has been a full team effort, especially with injuries playing a role in recent weeks. With a next gal up mentality the team has maintained success as they now march into postseason action beginning with the Lou-Platte Conference Tournament. The team will look to Jerzie Schindler to be a leader in the circle and also at the plate where she delivered big on Saturday going five for five with a homerun in one of the teams games.

Eagles win 37-34 in thriller at Pleasanton

In one of the most electric and exhilarating games of the season, Nebraska Christian defeated Pleasanton with a final score of 37-34. Both teams played their hearts out, but it was the Eagles’ impenetrable defense that made headlines as they pulled off a dramatic stand, stopping Pleasanton from crossing into the end zone on three consecutive attempts from just one yard out.

The Central City High School girls' golf team shone brilliantly on Friday, securing the Lou-Platte Conference Championship title at Indianhead Golf Course. Amidst a robust competition that saw participation from Centura, Gibbon, Loup City, Ravenna, St. Paul, and Doniphan-Trumbull, it was Central City that clinched the top spot.

Valley View Country Club’s rolling landscapes were a testament to endurance and determination last Thursday at the Roger Nielsen Cross Country Invitational. Over 500 athletes took to the course, including Central City and Nebraska Christian, the athletes gave it their all, pushing boundaries and setting new records.
