20 Years Ago Nancy Johnson of Central City will present a slide show featuring Merrick County years of Wright Morris’ boyhood with selected reading from his work. Morris’ work will also be on display at the Joslyn Museum.

Carbon pipeline opposition hits Merrick County as County Board of Supervisors hears concerns

Merrick County has plenty going on with some tough decisions that could play a large role in the future of our communities. One of those was spoken about at length last week during the Merrick County Board of Supervisors meeting when Jan Kleeb of Bold Nebraska appeared before the County Board to share her thoughts on a proposed pipeline project.

Free Throw Contest 2023

The St Michael’s Knights of Columbus Local Free Throw Championship took place Sunday, Jan 29, 2023, at Central City Bison Activities Dome. Nineteen Boys and girls age 9-14 participated in the local contest. The 10-girls division was won by Hilarie Negus with Eliza Sanborn second and Mabel Mankin third. The 11-girls was won by Madison Howe with Cora Sanborn second. The 12-girls was won by Adelain Mankin with McKinley Mankin second and Anna Schmierer third. 14-girls division was won by Kadeya Sanborn. 9-boys was won by Mason Schreiber and Landon Flodman was second. 10-boys was won by Carson Thornton with Mason Dishman second and Jax Fisher third. 12-boys was won by Tucker Schreiber with Erik Blomstedt second. Gavin Root won the 13-boys division. The District Championship will be held Sunday, February 19th in Central City.

Mitch and Trent, your professionalism cannot be praised enough, we know handling arrangements in another state was not easy but you made it so much easier for us.
