An unsettling trend across the country shows a decline in EMTs when our country will be needing more by the end of the decade. That is why it was even more important this year to recognize those here in Central City who answer the call to help people in some of their largest times of need. Earlier this month (top photo) members of the Central City Ambulance Crew were recognized for their one-year anniversary, some have already moved past that mark, but were recognized now due to the pandemic. Health and Wellbeing Clinic opening at the Merrick Foundation Business Incubator

A new business is now open and working in the Merrick County Foundation Business Incubator. Abintra Lumine, owned by Dr. Rachel Ziebauth, specializes in health and wellness. On Friday, January 27, they had their grand opening after doing a soft opening since November.

Nancy Johnson gives 50 years of service to P.E.O

Central City’s P.E.O., Chapter AB, celebrated Nancy Johnson’s 50-year membership, presenting her with a bouquet and party. Nancy has been the Historian for P.E.O. Chapter AB, since 1973, and has enjoyed Central City area history for many years. Her ability to think, reflect, discuss, and evaluate the past has provided a rich legacy to our membership and community.

20 Years Ago Workers with Skeen Construction carefully knock down the walls on the old Coast to Coast building located between Central Bank and Bob Hope Furniture along main street due to the building’s hazardous state and to make a parking lot. 30 Years Ago Merrick County’s Lone Tree Monument is featured in a special supplement to NEBRASKAland magazine.

2023 Ag Day Planned for January 31st in Aurora focusing on Farm Succession Planning

The University of Nebraska Extension wants to help you take your farm to the next level with topic relating to “2023 Corn and Soybean Insect and Plant Disease Updates”, “How to Think Through Passing Your Farm On” and much more. The 2023 Ag Day will be held Tuesday, January 31st at the Ag Auditorium, Hamilton County Fairgrounds starting at 9:00 am with breakfast refreshments and time to view the display booths. The presentations will start at 9:30 and conclude about 3:45. The event has a great lineup of several excellent speakers focusing on Production Ag Updates and Farm/ Ranch Transition and Succession. Ag Day is consistently ranked by the farmers that attend as one of the best educational Ag events.
