Warm temperatures and recent moisture have created ideal planting conditions for Merrick County producers, Eldon Root is seen shredding corn stalks in Greg Senkbile’s field east of the Central City Airport in preperation for the start of planting. The renewal of one of Central City’s most intense rivalries was evident once again Thursday at the CC Track and Field Invitational, and featured the Central City and Aurora girls.

April is Volunteer Month!

Midland Area Agency on Aging would like to recognize and thank all of the wonderful Volunteers for helping with in-house meals, cleaning, decorating for holidays, teaching exercises, doing crafts, calling bingo and delivering home delivered meals at the Good Life Center. In Merrick County, we have over 38 volunteers who have provided over 1000 hours of service in the last year.

Clarks VFW Pool Players show support for one of their own injured in explosion

This past Friday, people from all around gathered at the VFW in Clarks for a special pool tournament and fundraiser. The pool tournament was held as a benefit for Andrew Lewis, who recently was involved in a work-place explosion that left him fighting for his life in an Omaha hospital. It also happened to be Andrew’s birthday on the day of the tournament, and many people brought birthday cards that would be given to him at a later date.
