City Council approves staff changes, Mark Dreher sworn in as Police Chief

Update: Mark Dreher was officially sworn in as Police Chief today (Thursday). Mayor Bolling said, “Chief Dreher has a ton of experience who can operate at 100% from day one. He’s a strong leader and we’re grateful to have him aboard.” It has been a busy stretch for the City Council of Central City with some big decisions to be made. In a special meeting last Wednesday, it was approved to authorize Mayor Tim Bolling to enter into a severance agreement with Central City Police Chief Mark Hogue to avoid further due process expenses and to avoid potential litigation on terms to be negotiated.

Locals secure Husker volleyball tickets as tickets sell out in less than an hour

For months now anticipation has been building for a spring exhibition match between the University of Nebraska-Lincoln volleyball team and Wichita State inside the Bison Activity Dome. Like a scene from yesteryear many Husker volleyball fans made sure that they would have a seat for the April 29, match as they began camping out on Sunday night with ticket sales kicking off at 8:00 am on Monday morning.

On Saturday, April 1, 2023, at approximately 03:56 a.m. emergency crews were detailed to the area of 6th Road and Ormsby Road, rural Archer, Merrick County, Nebraska after a utility employee, who was called to investigate a power outage, reported a single vehicle traffic accident.

Last Wednesday the Central City Area Chamber of Commerce was happy to host a ribbon cutting for two businesses who have found a new home in the former Pump and Pantry Building east of the Central City Mall. Next Level Chiropractic P.C. and Laundry Express held an open house and ribbon cutting to celebrate the occasion. Dr. Alyssa Fischbach-Charron cut the ribbon while Doug McHargue of Laundry Expess looked on.

Two Central City girls will represent Nebraska in America’s National Teen-Ager Scholarship Pageant in Nashville Tennessee after Jeralee Shotkoski and Brooke herbig were crowned Miss Nebraska Senior Teen-Ager and Junior Teen-Ager respectively. Central City resident Ashley Collins shoveled her car out from under a blanket of snow on Monday morning after a heavy spring snowstorm dumped more than nine inches of snow on Sunday.
