This past week there was a light at the end of the tunnel for those who have been tasked with sorting out the search for Central City’s next police chief. In last Monday’s City Council meeting it was approved to offer Central City resident Mark Dreher the position if the position would come available.

Kids and Dreams Foundation to Host their Annual Summer Camp for Autistic Children By Jacob Kennedy Kids and Dreams is a special organization dedicated to providing support to children of all ages and their families dealing with autism, bullying and other challenges faced by today’s children. And they seek to enrich the lives of the kids by locating and providing the resources that will help them reach their full potential in life. One event that they have been doing every year that the kids are always excited about is Operation Sunshine Camp.

With so much conversation surrounding Central City Public Schools for their accomplishments in building a successful environment for learning, some may think that it would be easy to lose sight of the students who are making extraordinary impacts on the world around us. That is certainly not the case as the students and educators in the Central City High School science department once again are in the spotlight.

Monday and Tuesday night Central City High School was the site of a large crowd, but not for the normal sporting event or school activity. This time around it was a pair of meetings that had the potential to shape our community for years to come.
