Summer Kickoff Fun

On Tuesday evening Merrick Medical Center hosted their first Kids Night event to honor the end of the school year with enough fun to go around. The festivities featured many local organizations and businesses, but also featured multiple first responders including the Central City Ambulance, Merrick County Sheriff’s Department and the Central City Volunteer Fire Department. Paula Slack (left) was all smiles helping kids spin the exercise wheel. Sheriff John Westman was also all smiles even though he played second fiddle to the k9 unit.

Central City and Palmer 4-H clubs join forces to revitalize playground equipment

This past Sunday at the fairgrounds, 4-H Clubs from both Central City and Palmer combined their efforts for a special clean-up project for Grandpa Dave’s Playground located next to the Beef Barn. Many 4-H Kids and their parents worked hard to revitalize the playground and make it look like new again.

Huggett honored following retirement

On Wednesday May 17th, friends and colleagues gathered at Prairie Creek Winery to celebrate Ray Huggett on his retirement from the Merrick Medical Center Board of Trustees, where he has recently served as chairman. Having long served on many boards in the Central City area, Ray has achieved an extensive resume of involvement in the community, and has had an impact that has greatly affected Merrick County for the better.

A few short years ago Thomas and Rachel Hermansen started their journey as the owners of Wild Roots Greenhouse and Market in Central City. They have grown plants and a family all while making large renovations, starting a farmers market and much more. Earlier this month Wild Roots was joined by the Central City Area Chamber of Commerce for a ribbon cutting and open house event to celebrate their grand re-opening.
