Bison to host Aurora in battle of top teams as season nears completion

Just before the 2022-23 basketball season kicked off there was plenty of talk of the Central City High School basketball team putting together a run that could end a state basketball tournament drought that dates all the way back to 1947. It has been generations since the Bison last made an appearance in the state basketball tournament and many felt that this was the team to finally make it happen.

For the Central City High School wrestling team, the NSAA District wrestling weekend has become almost like a holiday of sorts as they have found plenty of reasons to celebrate over the years. With an outstanding number of individual and team success found at districts in the past it was once again time to look for some of that same magic as they hosted the C-3 District.

The 2022-23 basketball season is quickly coming to an end and Tuesday both area boys and girls took a step in determining the fate of how their season would end. For both High Plains Community and Nebraska Christian girls basketball teams the day was an opportunity to hit the court and look to extend their season while the boys Sub-District brackets were announced.

Area girls wrestlers give it their all in tough district to wrap up 2022-23 season

Girls wrestling in Nebraska is still new and only in the second sanctioned season by the NSAA. With that comes some kinks to be worked out and unfortunately the Central City Bison and the High Plains Community Storm girls wrestling teams experienced that firsthand this past weekend as the competed in the District-1 wrestling meet in Freemont.
