Statement by Mark McHargue, President, Regarding the Advancement of the House Farm Bill

Body
“Today’s passage of the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2024 otherwise known as the Farm Bill, is a positive first step. As we often say, food security is an essential component of national security. Without a stable and reliable food supply, our nation is vulnerable to economic instability and geopolitical threats. The Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2024 recognizes this fundamental connection and takes significant steps to strengthen our agricultural industry, protect our nation’s food security, fund important conservation programs, provide funding for crucial trade promotion and agricultural research programs, improve federal agricultural lending programs, ensure activists within one state cannot set animal welfare standards for livestock producers across the country, and much more.”

From the Chamber

Body
Last Thursday we held a repeat ribbon cutting for MyEllement Boutique as Emily Herbig welcomed the community into her new 8000 square foot clothing warehouse for tours, refreshments and of course shopping. I saw vehicles from all over Nebraska who came to celebrate Emily’s success. What a testament to the far reach of Emily’s business! Emily’s story is about her hard work, following consumer trends and gathering a staff that supports all she does. The chamber is fortunate that Emily is one of our valued members and we are grateful that her success benefits all of Central City.
