Coming into the meeting, the senior led the state in scoring with 23.6 points per game and, in what would ultimately be her final game sporting an Eagles’ uniform, saved her best performance for last.

High Plains boys top BDS 49-43

Just in time for the D2-6 Subdistrict Tournament, the High Plains Storm notched a 49-43 win over Bruning-Davenport/ Shickley (BDS) in their regular season finale. High Plains jumped out to a 16-4 first quarter lead, grabbed a 27-18 lead at the half, and held on to the six-point win despite BDS scoring sixteen points in the fourth frame.

SCHWEITZER LEADS BISON AT STATE

Five Central City wrestlers medal at state tournament Central City’s Ace Schweitzer won his second gold medal on Saturday, headlining a meet that featured numerous highs for the Bison wrestling team at the NSAA Class C State Wrestling Championships. At CHI Health Center in Omaha, five of the Bison’s eight state qualifiers secured hardware, with the team bouncing around the top ten throughout the three-day tournament.

Three wrestlers represent High Plains at state meet High Plains’ Dakota Gress ended her prep wrestling career with a memorable moment. Despite an early round loss at the NSAA Class B Girls State Wrestling Championships in Omaha, Gress rebounded, won three matches in the consolation bracket, and ended her career with her second medal in two years.
