Central City girls take sixth at Northwest

Up against a crowded field of fourteen other teams, medals weren’t easy to come by at last Thursday’s Dave Gee Invite at Grand Island Northwest High School. However, among all that talent, the Central City Bison stood out from the crowd when they earned eleven top six finishes and a pair of gold medals to take home sixth and eleventh finishes in the girls and boys team standings, respectively.

Central City combines for twenty-two total medals Some of the best Class B and C track and field teams in the state made their way to Central City last Friday for the Bison’s annual invitational. Grand Island Northwest swept the team titles at Preferred Popcorn Field, but the Green and Gold shined in their home meet, ending the day with twenty-two total medals and a pair of top five team finishes.

Central City girls win team title at Sandy Creek

The Central City girls spread gold medals across the track and field events at last Tuesday’s Sandy Creek Invite, resulting in 109 combined points and the overall team crown. Tatum Campa ran a personal record time of 12.64 seconds to take first place in the 100-meter dash while, in the middle distances, Amelia Buhlke bested West Holt’s Pavan Larson in a photo finish with her winning time of 2:23.65.
