Conference and school records fall at LouPlatte Conference meet Twenty-five medals, nine of which were gold, went to the Central City girls at last Friday’s LouPlatte Conference Track and Field Championships. That impressive showing resulted in 153 points and the Lady Bison’s second conference title in three seasons.

With districts just around the corner, Central City/Centura looks primed for a deep postseason run. Last week on their home diamond, the Kernels notched backto- back wins over Twin River and Elkhorn to bring their final regular season record to 15-5.

Several Central City, Nebraska Christian, and High Plains tracksters left their mark at Northwest High School in Grand Island during last Tuesday’s Central Nebraska Track Championships (CNTC) while facing off with some of the toughest competition in the state.

High Plains left Thursday’s Palmer Invite in Fullerton with several new personal bests and a collection of medals in tow. On the boys’ side of the meet, the Storm were led by senior jumper Brodey Spurling, who swept the long and triple jumps.

Central City/Centura completed their regular season sweep of St. Paul/Palmer last Tuesday in Cairo, using a pair of strong pitching performances and ten total hits to down the Cats 11-3.

Up against a crowded field of fourteen other teams, medals weren’t easy to come by at last Thursday’s Dave Gee Invite at Grand Island Northwest High School. However, among all that talent, the Central City Bison stood out from the crowd when they earned eleven top six finishes and a pair of gold medals to take home sixth and eleventh finishes in the girls and boys team standings, respectively.
