There was no slowing down the Archangels Catholic Defenders last Tuesday evening at Nebraska Christian. The Eagles fell behind 26-11 after the first quarter, then saw the visitor’s lead balloon to 56-14 at the halftime break.

With little depth on their roster this season, every match is going to matter for members of the High Plains Storm boys’ wrestling program.

Central City’s Maci Peters remained perfect on the year on Friday after the Bison won four matches to take the individual title at the York Wrestling Invite. Peters secured the gold at 135 pounds.

On the heels of a dominant 61-8 win over Gibbon in their season opener, the Central City Bison suffered their first loss of the season last Saturday when they fell to LouPlatte Conference foe Ord 68-41.

St. Mary’s led throughout the entirety of the first quarter in last Saturday’s game with Nebraska Christian. However, some stout defense and a standout performance from Sheridan Falk pushed the Eagles to their second win of the season, 47-37.
