The Nebraska Christian men’s and women’s track teams travelled to the Goldenrod Conference Track and Field Championship last Friday in Humphrey. When the final tape was broken, the Lady Eagles exhibited talent and depth in running away with the team championship. The Lady Eagles racked up nine gold medals and parlayed considerable depth to dominate the field.

The Central City boys golf team spent last week rewriting the record book and climbing the leaderboard—twice. On Thursday, May 8, the Bison teed off at the LouPlatte Conference Championship and walked away with a third-place team finish.

The hay is in the barn—or at least most of it is. With state dreams on the line and the May sun trying to melt spikes to the track, the Bison track and field team showed up ready to run, jump, and throw their way into the conversation at Tuesday’s Class B-5 District meet.

After wrapping up a regular season filled with marquee wins, walk-off moments, and a whole lot of green and gold grit, the Central City/Centura Kernels are shifting their focus to the postseason. The C-2 District Tournament will be held on their home turf at Kernel Field, with action beginning Thursday, May 8, and the championship game slated for Friday, May 9 at 5:00 p.m.

The Central Nebraska Track and Field Championships at Grand Island Northwest brought together some of the best talent the region has to offer, and athletes from Central City, Nebraska Christian, and High Plains made sure their names were stamped all over the podium— and in the record books.

It was a week of fireworks and fastballs for the Central City/Centura Kernels baseball team — a week that began with the kind of momentum every coach dreams of in late April, and ended with the kind of reminder that in Class C baseball, the road to state never runs smooth.

On a cold, windy day more fitting for early March than late April, Nebraska Christian and High Plains traveled to Fullerton to compete in the Palmer Invitational. The Lady Eagles were again dominant in the 12-team field, and the N.C. boys finished second overall. The High Plains boys earned fourth in the team standings.
