New license plates may see brief delay in Merrick County

Body
Betty Johnson, Department of Motor Vehicles Driver and Vehicle Records Administrator, recently reached out to the Merrick County Treasurer’s office. In her e-mail she stated; “Over the past two years supply chain issues have negatively impacted many of the supplies the DMV provides to our offices. Between shipment delays and decal material, envelopes, license plate sheeting, and aluminum shortages we have had to make many hard decisions on prioritizing and balancing/ managing supplies, orders, and needs of 103 offices across the state. We have again been faced with issues requiring some difficult decisions which will impact delivery of the 2023 plates to your county. In preparation for the new plate series, Cornhusker State Industries has been placing very large aluminum and sheeting orders over the past year in an effort to have ample stock on hand. Many of the orders expected by now have yet to arrive, and in many cases, supplies received have been late. The result of the postponed deliveries is the inability to produce 100% of the license plates we had requested to be delivered by now.”
