Nebraska Christian student selected to lead Cornhusker Girls State Hadassah Rankin didn’t enter Cornhusker Girls State unprepared. The soon-to-be Nebraska Christian senior entered the week-long citizenship training program on the campus of the University of Nebraska—Lincoln with a purpose.

With an average school size of about a dozen students, the older children taught the younger ones flag protocol, such as how to quickly and proudly run the flag to the top of the mast first thing in the school day before everyone recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Farm Bureau members advocate for ag

Nebraska Farm Bureau (NEFB) members traveled to Washington, D.C., this week to meet with Nebraska’s congressional delegation, federal officials, and policy leaders to advocate on behalf of Nebraska agriculture. During their visit, members discussed the need for a five-year Farm Bill, year-round E15 sales, and federal efforts to combat the spread of the New World Screwworm.

Multiple historical dresses with ties to Merrick County are on display in the Merrick County Historical Museum through June and July. Twenty-four wedding dresses from the museum’s Wedding Collection are currently part of the display.

Click It or Ticket campaign a success

The United States Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration raised awareness of seat belt safety during the Click It or Ticket high-visibility enforcement campaign, held May 18th until May 31st. The campaign combined increased enforcement, a zero-tolerance policy for not wearing a seat belt, and effective communication to road users on the importance of seat belt use.
