10 YEARS AGO Youngsters up and down the gamut of ages crowded into the Central City Volunteer Fire Department fire barn on Saturday to enjoy free Easter activities and to escape the rainy weather outdoors. On March 18th, the supervisor and residents of the girls’ dormitory at Nebraska Christian opened their doors to a number of special guests, who were on hand to help celebrate the opening of the new dormitory facility called Elliot Hall.

The Central City Board of Education had the chance to weigh in on a policy regarding outside students participating in athletics and activities offered at the district’s high school. During the board’s March 16th meeting, members voted to approve a revision to Policy 5002.1: Part-Time Students.

Central City Public Schools to present Broadway-caliber musical The Central City High School musical is just around the corner, set to hit the stage four times this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This year, Central City students are staging Mary Poppins, and to quote the magical nanny herself, the show is shaping up to be “practically perfect in every way.” “We are hard at work getting ready for the shows,” said Director Dane Christensen of the upcoming performance on Monday, “and we’re excited for the public to come see what we have been working on.” For the 2026 Central City High School Musical, the district is staging an adaptation of Mary Poppins, adapted for the stage by Cameron Mackintosh from the original stories of P.L.
