With performances scheduled from March 22 to 24, 2024, the school’s talented cast and crew are ready to bring this timeless story to life under the bright lights of their stage.

Sunday afternoon, crews from seven different area fire departments battled a blaze that tore across one section, jumped a county road, and was well on its way into the next section before firefighters get it under control. A tree explodes, sending flames and smoke billowing across the Nebraska sky, whipped by gusty winds.

Teachers Invited to Summer Soybean Institute

– The Nebraska Soybean Board is proud to announce its funding support for the upcoming 2024 Summer Soybean Institute (SSI), inviting twenty middle school and high school educators to delve into the fascinating world of soybeans. Hosted by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) in collaboration with local teacher leader collaboratives, this enriching institute will be held on May 29-30 and July 16-18.

Farmers of Merrick County - Don Ohlman

Green. John Deere Green specifically. It has been a part of Don Ohlman’s life for as long as he can remember. Growing up his dad, Fred, farmed with John Deere tractors. In fact, Fred’s first tractor was a John Deere B, bought during World War II. He had to have a permit which proved he needed a tractor and Fred paid $880.00 total for it. Don’s first John Deere tractor, which was a little more than $880.00, was a John Deere G in 1950.

High Plains boys look for continued track and field success in 2024

The High Plains boys track and field team, a squad known for its grit, talent, and ability to leave opponents in a cloud of dust, is gearing up for their first competition of the season this Thursday at the UNK Invite in Kearney. And let me tell you, the excitement is as palpable as the starting line before the gun goes off.
