For the week ending April 21, 2024, there were 4.7 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 12% very short, 33% short, 51% adequate, and 4% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 11% very short, 39% short, 46% adequate, and 4% surplus.

Average gasoline prices in Nebraska have fallen 6.0 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.37/g today, according to Gas-Buddy’s survey of 1,150 stations in Nebraska. Prices in Nebraska are 1.6 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 13.7 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has decreased 0.4 cents in the last week and stands at $4.01 per gallon.

High Plains Community School’s 4th and 5th graders in Mrs. Laura Hedrick’s class recently held a Poetry Cafe after finishing up their poetry units. Each week different students poems will be published to honor their hard work!
