Success at the International DECA Competition

Body Caleb Rowe, CCHS junior, competed at the State DECA competition in March and there he placed 3rd in the Accounting Applications event. With that placement, he earned a spot to go compete at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Anaheim, CA.

Body Eight students from each Central City and High Plains Community high schools were named to the academic all-state team for the spring 2014 season.

Nebraska crop progress and condition

Body For the week ending May 12, 2024, there were 4.8 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 4% very short, 14% short, 73% adequate, and 9% surplus.

Body Based on May 1 conditions, Nebraska’s 2024 winter wheat crop is forecast at 40.0 million bushels, up 8% from last year’s crop, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Average yield is forecast at 47 bushels per acre, up 5 bushels from last year.

Body We are past the average frost-free date, and soil temperatures on bare soil are in the mid-50s. It is safe to plant warm season vegetables, like tomatoes and cucumbers, and most perennial flowers.

Body Thank you to all the nurses, doctors and others at Merrick Medical Clinic and Bryan Hospital that helped my sister Shirley Mae Lewis during the time she spent there in April. I only know a few, but one who was helpful was Kim Wagner (for everything she did after also).
