Picture this: the sun shining, a slight breeze, temperature just warm enough to not need a jacket and a slight scent of green fields and dust. Being outside is something Rick Zywiec has always loved. He feels more at home out and about than sitting inside.

It is now the fourth quarter of the school year, which puts school bus drivers like myself into survival mode. In 15 years behind the wheel of the big yellow taxi, I am still amazed at some of the things students do, think, forget, say and try to get away with.

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) encourages all Nebraskans to join in celebrating March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. This month is an opportunity to recognize that our community is a blend of people with unique abilities that are all valuable. Everyone deserves a chance to lead fulfilling and productive lives and achieve their goals. This month also allows Nebraskans to celebrate the achievements that have been made towards this goal.

The Merrick County Board of Supervisors convened on a recent Tuesday morning to address the ongoing discussion regarding the structure and effectiveness of township governance within the county. The primary focus of this dialogue is the consideration of a significant alteration to the current system, specifically, the proposal to dissolve the township form of government in favor of a streamlined approach to county management.
