In Central Nebraska, Opportune Acres is expanding the horizons of inclusivity through its comprehensive programs for individuals with special needs. Founded by Dennis, a pediatrician, and Kari Valentine, an occupational therapist, the organization sprouted from the need to bridge significant gaps in the current healthcare system for some of the most vulnerable groups.

A Night of Celebrations and Farewells: Central City FFA honors achievements and seniors

In a touching and spirited evening last Friday, the Central City FFA chapter gathered in the Merrick County 4-H Building for their annual banquet, a celebration packed with emotion, pride, and community support. The event, marked by moments of joy and poignant goodbyes, saw a very large crowd cheering for the achievements of these young leaders, particularly the senior members who retired their iconic FFA jackets in a ceremony filled with gratitude and reflections.

EPA Granting Wavier to Allow Use of E15 this Summer

“We are pleased to again see the EPA grant a waiver to allow for the use of E15 nationwide this summer. Today’s announcement comes on the heels of EPA’s announcement earlier this year to grant a year-round E15 waiver for eight states including Nebraska beginning in 2025. We appreciate EPA’s decision to provide consumers with an affordable and sustainable fuel option, however, it also highlights the need for a permanent solution.”

Nebraska Crati Brewery Board Seeks Project Proposals to Help Grow Industry

Grow Local. Brew Local. Buy Local.” That’s the mission statement of the Nebraska Craft Brewery Board and the inspiration behind growing the state’s craft brewery industry. To help achieve that mission, the Nebraska Craft Brewery Board is seeking project proposals from growers, industry organizations, state and local agencies, educational groups, and others to fund research, development, and marketing projects in Nebraska’s craft brewing industry. This year, the Board anticipates allocating approximately $120,000 in grants to fund such projects. The deadline to submit proposals is April 30, 2024.
