Body
As the Central City High School girls basketball team was looking forward to a battle with Boone Central, Mother Nature put a damper on the plans as ice forced last Thursday’s game to be pushed back to January. With games against two quality opponents rounding out the week, it was a week that proved to be a tough one for a young Bison squad that is growing with each game.

Behind every basket in the stat book is a full team effort to set up a shot and the Bison have had plenty of team success this season. Last Friday was a great day for Derek Pfeifer (top left) who seen his first action of the season returning from injury. The past week has also been a big one for Nathaniel Heins (top right) who has capitalized on an increase in minutes to shine as he has helped the Bison to a pair of big wins against quality teams. Of course Ayden Zikmund (bottom) has had a big week with plenty of success shooting the ball. Last Friday Zikmund and Kellen Fries put on a show as the two battled all night, but in the end it was Zikmund and the Bison who came away with a 62-48 victory over Centura.

Friday night though it was Jerzie Schindler (bottom) who led the Bison in scoring as she scored nine points in the loss to Centura. The Bison now sport a 1-3 record after the week.

Nebraska Christian and High Plains entered into Tuesday night’s game both sporting a perfect record, but the Eagles prevailed. Reghan Flynn (top left) glides past Peyton Hofmann on her way to one of multiple baskets to help lead the storm. Ali Bruning (top right) also was smooth to the basket as the Eagles executed well on defense to set up many fast-break opportunities. High Plains brought plenty of fight from players like Rylee Ackerson (bottom) who here drives to the hoop herself as Hope Seip looks up to track the shot. In the end the Eagles secured a 44-22 victory over the stop to remain perfect on the season.
