Youth Wrestling State Qualifiers

After competing in O’Neill this past Saturday for their Nebraska USA District meet, where Central City Junior Wrestling finished in eighth place out of 49 teams, the club will set their sites on their home meet. The following weekend will bring the Nebraska USA State Tournament where 21 state qualifiers will compete. Those include, Front row left to right: Hadley Samway, Carter Boelts, Moxon Wurtz, Rhett Brondel, Cooper Dettman and Easton Burdick. Middle: Camrie Brondel, Lylah Fothergill, William Brondel, Ace Schweitzer and Colton Boroff. Back: Maci Peters, Preston Burbach, Bow Brandenburg, Trig Brandes and Bentley Garfield. Not pictured: Kalauni Manadik, Emma Harris, Addie Burbach, Keleigh Gonzalez and Jacob Gonzalez.

High Plains basketball season concludes with heartfelt efforts

As the curtain falls on the High Plains Community basketball season, both the boys and girls teams faced challenging conclusions to their spirited campaigns. The boys’ team, demonstrating resilience and skill, fell short of the state tournament, succumbing to a 73-52 defeat at the hands of Walthill. This came after their triumphant subdistrict championship victory over Nebraska Lutheran with a final score of 59-44, a testament to their determination and teamwork.
