White Bull helps lead Central City to third-place finish at districts Central City’s Cyah White Bull, for the second consecutive season, was one of ten individual qualifiers for the NSAA State Golf Championships from the C-2 District Meet in Columbus. This time around, however, the junior will have some company.
Last season’s matchup between Central City and Lincoln Christian was one of the best football games of the year, with the Bison rallying to a comefrom- behind 52-50 win. Last Friday in the rematch, the Green and Gold kept things a little less dramatic.
A year after having beaten St. Paul at the Bison Activity Dome in a five-set thriller, the Central City Bison headed into last Tuesday’s volleyball match against the Wildcats hoping the replicate that success this season.
It took three plays from scrimmage for Fullerton to put sixteen points on the board in Nebraska Christian’s homecoming game with the Warriors last Friday. The Eagles found their footing after that point, holding Fullerton to twenty-eight points over the course of the remaining forty minutes of regulation, but found the end zone just three times on the offensive end, resulting in a 44-18 loss.
The High Plains Storm impressed last Tuesday evening with a 3-0 win over McCool Junction, marking their third win in their last four matches. “The biggest thing is our energy and our mindset,” High plains Coach Haylee Sandman said of her team’s late-season turnaround.
Coming off a 46-8 loss to Bruning-Davenport- Shickley the week prior, High Plains was hungry for a win. Last Friday evening the Storm treated a homecoming crowd to their best offensive performance of the season when they breezed past Giltner 80-34 for their third win of the year.
Central City second at LouPlatte meet There wasn’t much room for error on Friday afternoon when the Central City Bison joined the rest of the LouPlatte Conference field at the conference’s annual golf tournament. This year’s meet, which was held at Centura Hills Golf Course north of Cairo, featured a deep field of talented golfers, with the Bison’s crew finishing the day near the front of the pack.
A fast start and smothering defense from Bruning-Davenport/Shickley (BDS) was too much for the High Plains Storm to overcome last Friday as the Eagles scored early and often on the way to a 46-8 victory.
