The Clarks Public Library was the recipient of the Pilcrow Foundation grant that allowed $1300.00 worth of books to be awarded to the library. Flatland Mobile Service was a sponsor that aided in the grant process and helped the library attain the lot of children’s books.

With combines and grain carts heading to the fields, the Nebraska Corn Board (NCB) and the Nebraska Corn Growers Association (NeCGA) are urging farmers, residents, and drivers to take a second for safety this harvest season to protect what matters – everyone getting home safe.

This past Saturday, Chapman held their Fall Festival. The event started around 10:00 am, but the cooks who were in charge of the brisket and ribs that would be served at the end of the event, got started as early as 6:00 in the morning. Many local vendors were brought to the event, and many classic cars were brought to the event for the car show.

On Monday, September 12th. The GOP of Merrick County held their meeting at the venture center. The theme that night was mostly centered on Education; with candidates Julie Hehnke and Sherry Jones there to speak, who are both running for offices related to state education. With the General Election coming up on November 8th and some changes in leadership in the state republican party, there was a lot to talk about.

Any day is a great opportunity to get out and explore all the great businesses that Central City has to offer, but Thursday night continues to be the premier night for shopping in our community. Now with two successful weeks under their belt, participating businesses look to keep gaining momentum as they continue the Thursday Night Lights shopping experience.

Each year roaming the sidelines at various sporting events you can find Josh Salinas who proudly serves our community as an Athletic Trainer through his employment with Bryan Merrick Medical Center. Over the course of his time in the community, Salinas has worked with many athletes to get them back in the game following an injury.
