10 Years Ago With the approval of Central City High School and the City Council of Central City, senior Jennifer Jensen will join the council as an associate member in an attempt to prepare today’s youth for tomorrow’s leadership. This past Friday the High Plains Community Storm held their homecoming festivities where they crowned Kylee Fischer Homecoming Queen and Ethan Fleming was named Homecoming King.

MMC’s Josh Salinas con_nues to aid local athletes in recovery

Each year roaming the sidelines at various sporting events you can find Josh Salinas who proudly serves our community as an Athletic Trainer through his employment with Bryan Merrick Medical Center. Over the course of his time in the community, Salinas has worked with many athletes to get them back in the game following an injury.

Outdoor family fun planned

Since the Central City Sportsman’s Club purchased the land that they previously leased from Merrick County, they have looked for ways to improve the club while also keeping safety a top priority. They now are looking for ways to show off the improvements to the historic club and the public will have an exciting opportunity to do just that.

Corn Growers Association holds plot tour

The Merrick County Local Chapter of the Nebraska Corn Growers Association held their first annual plot tour on Wednesday 9/7 near worms. We had about 30 area farmers tour the plot with numerous companies having seed hybrids showcased. We would like to thank the companies that paid to have their hybrids entered in the plot as well as our sponsors. The plot can be viewed between 4th and 5th roads on the Ormsby.
