Veterans Day is always a special day in Central City and the day once again did not disappoint as the community came together to honor our local heroes. Left to right from top left: The American Legion Post #6 Honor Guard stands ready at the Heartland Veterans Memorial Wall during the community ceremony. Dick Carnes was the guest speaker at Central City Public Schools during their presentation on Friday morning. Not only was pride and respect shown for our local veterans, but these boys also helped remind parade goers to show respect for our Nation’s flag during the parade. Close behind was the American Legion. Emma Schuele plays “Taps” during the school’s presentation. The High Plains Community marching band also played in the parade, but that was not all for local students as many local students took part in presentations, played in their school’s band or even just walked in the annual parade to show their respect. Merrick Medical also showed their thanks with a beautiful banner.
