Pillen kicks off state’s participation in celebrations

On July 4, 2026, the United States will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. On Tuesday, January 6th, Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen, First Lady Suzanne Pillen, Lieutenant Governor Joe Kelly, members of the Nebraska Semiquincentennial Commission, representatives from the Daughters of the American Revolution (DOR) and the Sons of the American Revolution (SOR), plus event organizers, officially kicked off Nebraska’s participation in America’s Semiquincentennial celebration.

DUBS PUB COMPLETES EXPANSION

An expansion project years in the making recently wrapped up at Dubs Pub, roughly doubling the square footage of the Palmer establishment. In an interview on January 8th, just two days before the bar and eatery’s official Grand Opening Bash on January 10th, owners Jamie and Kristi Weller said they were thrilled with the result and happy to officially bring the project to an end.

10 YEARS AGO The ice-covered Platte River continues the process of lodging floes and small chunks of ice against restrictions such as bridges and island, bringing the flow of the waterway to a halt near Highway 92 south and west of Clarks. The rise in floodwater threatens homes and property in the area, despite sandbag and dirt work.
