New flag could soon hang in dome

There is already plenty of green and gold inside the Bison Activity Dome, but district leaders at Central City Public Schools hope that, soon, there will be a little bit more red, white, and blue. Last Monday night, during the Central City Board of Education’s last meeting of 2025, members of the board voted to approve the Americanism Committee’s report.

A Central City man recently turned years of short, handwritten reflections into a published book designed to offer daily encouragement, one “nugget” at a time. Jim Garfield, veteran and retired chaplain with twenty- six years in ministry, became a published author late last month with Nuggets!: Immediate Useful Reminders to Stay Encouraged, a collection of 290 aphorisms and reflections across about 475 pages.

The board of directors of Cornerstone Bank announced the promotion of the following officer, at their recent meeting: Ethan Nelson was named Assistant Vice-President/Correspondent Lending for Cornerstone Bank. Ethan started at Cornerstone Bank in 2020 and completed the Financial Services Trainee program in 2022. He most recently served as an Assistant Vice-President/ Loans in Central City. Ethan has a bachelor’s degree in Business, Leadership, & Management from Bellevue University. Ethan and his wife, Brianna, live in Central City with their son, Rowan.
