Poll: Rural Nebraskans concerned about biosecurity

Rural Nebraskans are familiar with the need to protect the health of their land, food and communities. According to the 2025 Nebraska Rural Poll, most are familiar with the idea of biosecurity, and many are concerned about threats from contaminated water and invasive species, cyberattacks and natural disasters. The new report highlights Nebraskans’ opinions on these risks, whom they trust for information and how they see the state’s bioeconomy shaping the future.

Area districts earn high rankings

In late November, Nebraska education officials released the results of the state’s Nebraska Student- Centered Assessment System (NSCAS) and the Accountability for a Quality Education System Today and Tomorrow (AQuESTT), with both data sets painting a positive picture concerning public education in Central City and across the area. According to the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE), Central City Public Schools, as well as Palmer, High Plains, and Twin River all received high marks on the assessments.

Farm Bureau sets policy, elects leaders at annual meeting

Delegates representing farm and ranch families from all ninety- three Nebraska counties outlined key agricultural policy priorities and elected leaders for Nebraska Farm Bureau (NEFB) as part of the organization’s 108th Annual Meeting and Convention held December 7th to December 9th in Kearney. Delegates discussed a broad spectrum of agricultural policy issues to provide direction for the organization.
