Senator Loren Lippincott • District 34 THE RISING COST OF HEALTHCARE Healthcare costs in Nebraska are surging, mirroring national trends, but are unfortunately amplified by our state’s rural landscape and policy vulnerabilities. In 2023, average family health insurance premiums reached $23,938—double the inflation-adjusted figure from 2000—with employees contributing $6,542 on average.

serves as an Ag Pen Pal with the Farm Bureau, connecting with classrooms to teach children about life on the farm. She is multi-talented— a seamstress, a past “Make It with Wool” award winner, a mentor to young sewists, a county and state fair judge, and a piano teacher who shares her gifts with her local church.

10 YEARS AGO Central City native Zac Grigsby, 29, lost his life on Sunday evening in Lincoln as the result of an altercation with Lincoln police. Central City High School hosted its eighth annual Career and College Fair on November 25th.

Sisters in sync on scientific work

Central City High School (CCHS) sophomore Sophie Moser is currently in the middle of a monthslong research project, helping to collect clinical biomechanical data at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Biomechanics Research Building’s gait analysis lab. The data—which the lab hopes to use to alleviate pain in those suffering from foot-related vascular and pressure complications—will be used as part of the Advanced Biology student’s 2025–2026 Science Research Project, a sustained research undertaking conducted by the district’s Advanced Biology and Scientific Research students and presented at the annual science fair.
