Central City theater postpones closing

The Fox Theater in Central City, originally slated for closure this Thursday, January 15th, is now expected to remain open through mid-February. The theater’s owners recently announced that the company is postponing the theater’s previously publicized closure date to give the community “time and opportunity” to work toward a longterm plan to keep the cinema operating.

Pillen kicks off state’s participation in celebrations

On July 4, 2026, the United States will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. On Tuesday, January 6th, Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen, First Lady Suzanne Pillen, Lieutenant Governor Joe Kelly, members of the Nebraska Semiquincentennial Commission, representatives from the Daughters of the American Revolution (DOR) and the Sons of the American Revolution (SOR), plus event organizers, officially kicked off Nebraska’s participation in America’s Semiquincentennial celebration.
