Rural Community Impact Grant available to Non-Profits in Hamilton, Howard and Merrick Counties along with rural communities in Hall County

The Heartland United Way is announcing the availability of $30,000 for local nonprofit organizations to apply for grants. The nonprofit organizations must be located and providing programs in Hamilton, Howard, Merrick counties, or in the rural communities in Hall County.

Local Faces in Ag Last Thursday the Merrick County Extension hosted their Nebraska Soybean Production Clinic presenting producers with an opportunity to educate themselves ahead of the 2024 growing season. Amongst the experts were local faces such as Kelly Brandes of the United States Department of Agriculture.

The University of Nebraska Extension’s Soybean Production Clinic, held on February 15, 2024, at the Merrick County Youth and Agriculture Education Center, successfully concluded, drawing a number of soybean farmers and agribusiness professionals. The clinic, part of the Extension Crop Management Training Programs, offered an immersive experience into the world of soybean cultivation, addressing current challenges and introducing novel agricultural practices.

Central City has long been known for its spirit of community and dedication, qualities vividly embodied by Jacob Zeiss, a distinguished educator at Central City Public Schools and a proud veteran. Zeiss has taken a significant step forward in supporting our nation’s heroes, particularly those grappling with mental health issues and homelessness, through his involvement in the 50 Mile March. This event, designed to raise both awareness and funds, reflects Zeiss’s deep commitment to aiding fellow service members in their time of need.

The organization continues to grow and welcomes the community to join them on Sunday’s at the Central City Volunteer Fire Department.

This club has extended an open invitation to people of all ages, encouraging them to engage in the joys of cornhole—a game that is as much about forging social connections as it is about the spirit of competition.
