Hop featured in local brew, first in program history

For the first time in program history, the Amundsen Lab’s hop research program at the University of Nebraska– Lincoln has created a hop variety suitable for commercial sale. Margie, a hop developed from a Nebraska wild variety, is “a beast in the field,” much like the pitbull-German shepherd mix it’s affectionately named after.

Power district tackling last step in upgrade

Southern Public Power District (SPPD), a seven- county rural public power district serving rural Merrick County, is nearing the completion of a district-wide sub-transmission line conversion project. The project, which began in 2005, will see approximately 300 miles of transmission line serving substations throughout the district upgraded from 34.5 kilovolts (kV) to sixty-nine kV.

The attorney general is elected every four years on a partisan ballot, with no term limits.

The new website replaces MCHI’s previous site, which had been in use for nearly fifteen years and no longer met modern expectations for design, navigation, and mobile accessibility.

Trail donors recognized

Past improvements and future goals for the Dark Island Trail were the main topics of discussion during a recent meeting of the Platte PEER Group. On Wednesday, members of the group gathered at the Merrick Foundation meeting room to discuss progress on the trail, outline future goals, and recognize those donors who have helped contribute to the trail’s ongoing upkeep and growth.
