The Central City High School softball team celebrated an exhilarating victory against the Malcolm Clippers last Saturday, winning the C-2 District Championship. The win has fast-tracked the Bison to the NSAA State Softball Tournament scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday in Hastings. Central City took on Malcolm in a best-of-three series, and after a slow offensive start, they exploded offensively to help notch their 31st victory of the season and their biggest to date.

A chilly Friday night set the stage for a fierce battle between the Central City Bison and the Pierce Bluejays. Despite a valiant effort from the Bison, a late-game fumble turned the tides and allowed Pierce to secure a 48-35 victory.

The Goldenrod Conference Cross Country Meet, held on October 5th, 2023, was not just another athletic event. Amid the racing feet and cheering crowd in Humphrey, an emotional ceremony recognized Nebraska Christian Cross Country Coach Scott Johnson, a man whose radiant smile and exemplary character have left an indelible mark on the sport and its community.

The Central City volleyball team has undoubtedly hit their stride, securing three consecutive victories, including sweeps over Madison and Twin River last Thursday. The pinnacle of this impressive run was a commanding three-set win against the Arcadia/Loup City Rebels on Senior Night. The Bisons showcased their prowess with set scores of 25-17, 25-17, and 25-16.

In a night of thrilling football in the eyes of Bison fans, Central City High celebrated an overwhelming homecoming victory, thrashing Fairbury 62-6. The Bison began the first quarter in high gear, with Corbin Kyes leading the way with a 53-yard touchdown run.

The Bison softball team has been nearly unstoppable lately, adding yet another feather to their cap by clinching their third consecutive Lou-Platte Conference Championship. The trophy came home to Central City after a dominant performance against Centura-Central Valley, where the Bison trounced the Diamonds 12-1.
