The Central City Bison volleyball team closed out a remarkable 2024 season with a 22-9 record, showcasing their strength, resilience, and determination. After a dominant start in the C1-9 Subdistrict tournament, the Bison’s journey ultimately came to an end in a hard-fought match against Milford. Despite the final outcome, Central City’s season was filled with memorable victories, standout performances, and plenty of hope for the future.

In a rollercoaster ride of back-to-back battles, High Plains first exacted revenge against Osceola on Monday night, only to fall in a heart-wrenching five-set marathon against Exeter-Milligan-Friend (EMF) on Tuesday. Both contests highlighted the Storm’s tenacity, but the team ultimately saw their postseason hopes dashed in the D1-5 Subdistrict Final.

The Nebraska Christian Eagles volleyball team clinched the D1-6 Subdistrict championship in style, sweeping both their opponents and securing a spot in Saturday’s district final, which they will host. Although their district opponent was not set at press time, the Eagles have made it clear that they are a force to be reckoned with, dominating their subdistrict foes with a blend of offensive power, defensive prowess, and well-rounded teamwork.

The NSAA State Cross Country Meet held last Friday at Kearney Country Club brought together the best runners from across Nebraska to compete on the challenging course. For many athletes, the Kearney course is known for its rolling hills and grueling final stretch, making any victory or personal record that much sweeter. Nebraska Christian’s boys and girls teams brought their best to the course, collecting accolades and personal milestones, while Central City’s smaller but determined group of runners left everything on the field, setting personal bests on the big stage.

The High Plains Community Storm are heading into the playoffs with confidence after a dominant 65-14 win over Deshler last Friday night. The Storm finished the regular season with a strong 6-2 record and will now host Lawrence-Nelson in a much-anticipated rematch in Clarks this Thursday at 6 p.m.
