Jen Myers, Merrick County Planning and Zoning Administrator, attended a two- and one-half day conference for Nebraska county officials conducted in Omaha over the dates of December 10-12, 2014. During that conference – the 120th Annual conference of the Nebraska Association of County Officials (NACO), Myers was presented with one of the four President’s Award for Distinguished Leadership in County Government.

On the morning of December 8, many denizens of Central City spent their morning puzzling over a strange and out of place Facebook post. The post was a missing person report detailing information about a woman named Kimberly Zuege. She was described as a 56-year-old female living in Central City. She was listed as 5’4” and had a weight of 120 pounds, along with having gone missing on November 30 of this year.

Central City celebrates 3rd annual Christmas festival with Hawaiian holiday theme

The community came together on Sunday, December 8, for the third annual Christmas festival at the Merrick County Courthouse square and Central City Elementary School. This year, the event featured a Hawaiian Holiday theme, complete with palm trees, flower necklaces, and Hawaiian shirts.
