Vegetables, bonds grow at UNL community gardens

SCRAP TIRE COLLECTION A BOON FOR COUNTY, RESIDENTS

Body The 2025 Merrick County Tire Amnesty took place this Saturday, August 16th at the Merrick County fairgrounds. Hosted by the Merrick County Highway Department, the free tire disposal event collected multiple hundreds of tons of tires for proper disposal.
RESIDENTS from across Merrick County descended on the Merrick County Fairgrounds on Saturday to dispose of tires during the county’s tire amnesty event. Around 250 tons of scrap tires could be collected as a part of the effort. Photos by Michael Happ

City Council bids Banks farewell

Body The Central City Council met for its regular session on Monday, August 11, working through a full slate of business that ranged from nuisance property rulings to franchise renewals and a council resignation that will soon see a new face in City Hall.
Two Thumbs Up Monday’s meeting welcomed Fyn Fasbender as the new student representative on the Council. Fyn was welcomed by Mayor Bolling.
