Producers and landowners can now enroll in USDA’s Grassland Conservation Reserve Program

WASHINGTON, July 14, 2025 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced that agricultural producers and private landowners can now enroll in the Grassland Conservation Reserve Program (Grassland CRP). The sign-up runs from today, July 14, to Aug. 8, 2025. Grassland CRP, offered by USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA), is a voluntary working lands conservation program that enables participants to conserve grasslands while also continuing most grazing and haying practices.

Broadway Academy holds its second show at the PAC

The Broadway Academy has just completed its second year in Central City, drawing students from across Nebraska and beyond for a weeklong immersion in song, dance, and theatre. Over the course of the week, students trained with professionals from the industry, culminating in a special weekend performance held at the Performing Arts Center, where each student had their moment in the spotlight.

Young stars shine in production of ‘Red Riding Hood’

The timeless tale of Red Riding Hood got a delightful twist this past weekend, as local youth took center stage in the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of Red Riding Hood, adapted and scored by Michael McGill. In a whirlwind week of rehearsals and creative collaboration, students transformed into a vibrant cast of woodland characters, bringing the stage to life with heart, humor, and a healthy dose of howling.

Torpin honored as Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska

What started as a simple patriotic luncheon at the Good Samaritan Community turned into a moment of statewide honor for Alice Hartford Torpin on July 2. Expecting only to share a festive afternoon with neighbors and friends, Torpin was stunned when State Senator Loren Lippincott entered the room and presented her with a certificate declaring her an Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska — the state’s highest honorary title.
