10 YEARS AGO Central City’s Brittney Jefferson reached the pinnacle of all of her years of hard work as a 4-H club member in Merrick County. Jefferson, who recently started her sophomore year at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, exhibited the Grand Champion Spot Market Gilt at the Nebraska State Fair.

Wilder, Reeves enter CCHS Athletic Hall of Fame

Pair was inducted Friday night at halftime of Bison’s football game Two individuals were inducted as members of the Central City Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2025 during a special induction ceremony held on Friday night, during halftime of the Bison’s football game against Ord at Preferred Popcorn Field in Central City. Members of this year’s hall of fame class include Harold Wilder and Zach Reeves.

Clarks resident, twenty-six others selected for Nebraska LEAD

The Nebraska Leadership Education/Action Development (LEAD) Program announced late last month the selection of twenty-seven individuals as Fellows of Nebraska LEAD Class 44. Chosen for their leadership potential, commitment to agriculture, and dedication to their communities, these fellows represent a wide range of backgrounds within Nebraska’s agricultural industry.

State fair sees large attendance during first weekend

The Nebraska State Fair welcomed more than 150,000 guests during its opening weekend, fueled by some of the best weather the state fair has seen in years. From Friday, August 22nd through Sunday, August 24th, fairgoers packed the grounds to enjoy livestock shows, food, rides, and new attractions, leaving the fair in a strong position heading into its second week.
