The Central City Council met for its regular session on Monday, August 11, working through a full slate of business that ranged from nuisance property rulings to franchise renewals and a council resignation that will soon see a new face in City Hall. The evening was highlighted with the announcement that Ward 2 representative Kegnide “Banks” Bankole has resigned his seat effective Tuesday, after moving into the opposite ward. His departure, while a loss for the council, comes with the assurance that Mayor Tim Bolling will appoint a replacement to keep the ward represented.

After nearly five years of service at the helm of one of Nebraska’s longest-standing weekly newspapers, Ryan Dettman and RHD Publishing, LLC have officially passed the torch. As of Thursday, the rights to publish the Central City Republican-Nonpareil have been sold to veteran newspaper publisher Michael Happ.
