Rural Workforce Housing honored

The South Central Economic Development District (SCEDD) celebrated the success of its involvement in the Rural Workforce Housing Fund with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by special guest Senator Loren Lippincott, Mayor Tim Bolling, McHargue Builders and many visitors who were in Central City for the HomeNE housing workshop held in Central City last Thursday. The event highlighted the significant impact of the program in addressing the pressing housing needs of rural communities in the state.

Last week the Central City Xplosion 14 and under softball team won the District 5 championship, team members include Kaylee Hostler, Savanna Tejeda, Elena Dahlke, Frankie Hendricks, Corrina Beyard, Abbie Hillmer, Alyx Gragg, Bailey Manhart, Maddie Young, Kenzie Rinkol, Sierra Boroviak and Leah Buller. The team is coached by Len Marco, Melissa Gragg, Scott Gragg and Andy Manhart.

In a thrilling finale at the USSSA C State Championship game, the Central City Runza Stampede 18U emerged victorious over the Wildcats 18U, securing the championship title. The key to their success was the exceptional performance of pitcher Payton Burbach, who showcased brilliance in the pitcher’s circle on that momentous Sunday. Burbach achieved an extraordinary feat by throwing a no-hitter, leading the Stampede 18U to a resounding 6-0 triumph.
