On a memorable Saturday evening, the High Plains Community Hall of Fame witnessed the induction of esteemed former athletes and a celebrated team, marking a historic moment for the community. The ceremony, held in the bustling atmosphere between the Junior Varsity and Varsity basketball games against the Fullerton Warriors, honored three individual athletes and a distinguished team from the local area.

The Central City Public Schools Board of Education meeting turned into a celebration of excellence in education as Chelle Gillan, a revered science educator at Central City High School, was recognized for her remarkable contributions to science teaching. In a touching ceremony attended by family, friends, and colleagues, Gillan was honored as a state finalist for the esteemed Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST).
