Central City Area Chamber looks to build on recent Gala success January 27

As the Central City Area Chamber of Commerce prepares to host its much-anticipated annual Gala, attendees are buzzing with excitement for what promises to be an enchanting evening filled with mystery, recognition, and a strong sense of community. Chamber President Dustin Meyer and fellow board members invite members and guests to the “All School Reunion” themed event, where camaraderie and nostalgia will blend with the thrill of a murder mystery.

The Central City Police Department partnered with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for the 2023 Winter Holiday Season Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over drunk-driving enforcement campaign. From December 15, 2023 through January 1, 2024, local law enforcement showed zero tolerance for impaired driving, arresting offenders for the deadly crime.

The chambers of the Central City Council meeting were steeped in a profound sense of admiration and gratitude last Wednesday when the ordinary order of business was preluded by an extraordinary commendation. Central City Police Department Chief Mark Dreher stood before the council and community members to deliver a heartfelt presentation of the Life Saving Award to Officer Grady Wranek, whose quick thinking and swift action turned the tide of fate on a day that could have seen a family’s joy turn to tragedy.
