Body For years our community has been blessed with the generosity of those that call Merrick County home. Whether it be a small annual donation, a large donation or for some even a gift after their time on this earth has come to an end.

Body For the week ending February 25, 2024, topsoil moisture supplies rated 7% very short, 30% short, 61% adequate, and 2% surplus, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 10% very short, 41% short, 48% adequate, and 1% surplus.

Body In the 1940s Stan Ferris’s father moved to Merrick County and began farming. Stan stayed in Merrick County and kept farming and now Stan sits back and watches his son, Greg, farm in Merrick County.

Body The value of Nebraska’s 2023 field and miscellaneous crops is forecast at $13.5 billion, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. This is down 11% from 2022. The value of corn production is expected to total $8.
