Merrick Nance Co. FSA encourages producers to complete 2024 Spring Crop Acreage Certification

Merrick Nance County USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) Executive Director Lorrie Robinson is reminding area producers that accurate and timely reporting of acres for all crops and land uses is an FSA program eligibility requirement. She is encouraging Merrick and Nance County producers to communicate with the FSA office as soon as possible regarding the spring acreage reporting process.

In what proved to be one of the most damaging natural events of the year, a series of intense thunderstorms and high winds followed close upon each other’s heels across central and eastern Nebraska. Though spotters across the area impacted by the storm system confirmed only a handful of tornadoes, the extent, length, and severity of straight-line wind reported indicated that the weather event included supercell thunderstorms and what is called a derecho.

USDA now accepting applications for available funds to help cover organic certification costs

Through the Organic Certification Cost Share Program (OCCSP), USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) will cover up to 75% of organic certification costs at a maximum of $750 per certification category. FSA is now accepting applications, and organic producers and handlers should apply for OCCSP by the Oct. 31, 2024, deadline for eligible expenses incurred from Oct. 1, 2023, to Sept. 30, 2024. FSA will issue payments as applications are received and approved.

Nebraska Wesleyan University Spring 2024 Dean’s List

Nebraska Wesleyan University has announced its 2024 spring semester academic honors list for students enrolled in traditional and adult undergraduate programs. Traditional undergraduates Students earning at least a 3.75 grade point average (on a 4.00 scale) while completing a full-time course load of at least 12 credit hours of graded work (pass/ fail courses are not included) are eligible.
